My gear
While excellent gear does not necessarily make you a good photographer you need to have adequate equipment to create the best possible results. Every photo shoot requires specific types of lenses etc. and there are rarely any one-size-fits-all solutions. Some of the things I use have - for a reasonable price - boosted the quality of my images immensely. While there are many things on the market that are amazing they can dry up your bank account in seconds. It makes sense to start small, learn the craft and actually go out to take pictures. With that said here's my inventory:
Camera bodies: Nikon D7100 (my main camera) and a Nikon D90 as a backup.
Editing software: Instead of Photoshop or other commonly used editing tools I have found that Nikon's software Capture NX 2 works like magic if you have a Nikon camera. It's extremely easy to understand and along with ViexNX 2 makes up for almost 90 % of all post-production work I do. For watermarks and signatures on the photos I use WinWatermark.
Lenses:
- Nikkor DX AF-S 18-105 f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
- Nikkor DX AF-S 50 f/1.8G
- Tamron SP DI II VC 70-300 f/4-5.6
Flashes:
- Nikon SPeedLight SB-910
Filters:
- B&W Kaesmann XS-Pro Circular polarizer MRC Nano filter (One of the best investments I've made)
- LEE ND Graduated Filters
- Soft 0.6 (2 stops) & Hard 0.6 (2 stops)
- UV filters
- Macro filter
Tripods & heads:
- Manfrotto 290 MT293A3 + DRQ2 head (3-way head)
Camera bags: I use a small camera bag from Case Logic that just fits the camera and a regular backpack to fit all of my camera gear in. I suspect that I'll be purchasing a "real camera bag" for all of the equipment in the near future.
Miscellaneous:
- Hähnel Remote shutter release
- Cleaning kit
